A BROMSGROVE Post Office that has gone the extra mile - literally - for free during lockdown has been nominated for a national award.

The Alcester Road Post Office run by postmaster Vicky Onions in Lickey End is a finalist in the 'Community Engagement' category at the Post Office’s ‘We’re Stronger Together’ awards for Northern Ireland and Wales.

The awards recognise efforts made by postmasters across the country to keep branches open during the coronavirus pandemic.

Post Office chiefs have praised the lengths Vicky and her team - at Vicky's Convenience Store and Post Office - have gone to during lockdown.

Post Office area manager Sarah Harris, said: “Vicky at Alcester Road Post Office has been nominated for our Community Engagement award for her commitment and dedication to her customers and her community spirit.

"She has been doing free food deliveries to vulnerable customers on her bike, and engaged with local businesses to put the food parcels together.

"She has rewarded her staff with weekly with thank you cards, chocolate hearts, and extra pay to say thank you to them for supporting her and their customers.

“Vicky really goes the extra mile for her customers and her community, everything she does is with them in mind.”
