FILM fans in Bromsgrove craving their flicks fix can enjoy a five-star first in the district this summer - as a town park premieres a drive-in cinema.

Blue Sky Cinema’s 'Drive-in Movies' will be coming to the park on two weekends from August 7-9 and 21-23 with a mix of 80s and 90s classics as well as the latest blockbuster films.

The films will be displayed on two giant LED screens during the day and into the evening, with three showings per day - 18 in total across the six days.

Sing-alongs like Mamma Mia, Grease and The Greatest Showman will feature as well as more recent films like Joker and Rocketman plus household favourites like Back to the Future and Jurassic Park.

A full list of the films with dates and times is available at www.blueskyoutdoor.co.uk while tickets, costing £22 per car can be booked at https://thelittleboxoffice.com/bluesky/?category=892

There is a 50% discount for NHS, emergency services, key workers and local authority employees, who can enjoy a movie for all occupants of a car for £11 (ID will be required).

Bromsgrove District Council's Cllr Phil Thomas, whose portfolio covers leisure and cultural services, said: “I’ve heard many people say recently that ‘2020 is a write off’ so I’m really proud of our Parks and Events Team who have worked hard alongside contractors to bring this drive in cinema to our beautiful park.

"It’s exciting and different and so much more than your average trip to the movies; it’s bringing enjoyment and positivity to our residents during these strange and difficult times.”

Ian Taylor, managing director of Blue Sky Cinema, said: “I’d like to thank Bromsgrove Council for providing the opportunity for Blue Sky Cinema to bring these great value movie experiences to local people at Sanders Park.

"A lot of hard work is taking place in the background, with both my staff and council officers, to make sure that visitors will have a fantastic experience with the added security that they will be safe in their own space.”

Families are welcome to bring their own refreshments or they can pre-order food and drink through the Blue Sky Cinema website or app.

Refreshments will include a “Retro Box” with candy floss, popcorn and sweets from the 80s, or for those looking to enjoy a more luxury experience there will be handmade crisps, toffee popcorn, raspberry ripple marshmallows, Belgian chocolates, prosecco and – for the designated driver – fresh orange juice.

Designated drivers will all receive a complimentary bottle of water.
