THE problem of nuisance bikers in the city has been an age-old problem, so it is not surprise to hear of a city resident highlighting the issue once again.

Steve Othick has told the Worcester News the reckless bikers have left people worried for their safety.

“Something needs to be done,” he says, and he is right of course.

Warndon residents have highlighted similar issues for years and the police always say they will act.

And to their credit, as Mr Othick points out, officers have even seized motorbikes and had them crushed. But of course with resources stretched their job is made more difficult.

The message simply isn’t getting through so it is sad to see, after all the years of problems, reports of motorbikes racing down footpaths once again.

It also gives a bad reputation to bikers in general, when the reality is the vast majority are law abiding and wouldn’t dream of speeding down pavements, putting in danger everyone including children and dogs. Hopefully this problem can be solved once and for all.
