A COLLEGE in Bromsgrove has issued a warning after members of the public were targeted in a scam.

According to Heart of Worcestershire College, people have been contacted on behalf of the college to make payments for parking at their Redditch and Bromsgrove campuses.

The college highlighted that these payments have been referred to as 'fines.'

Now, the college has addressed the 'local scam' in a statement sent out on social media.

The statement reads: "We have been alerted to a local scam where members of the public are being contacted and approached, supposedly on behalf of Heart of Worcestershire College, to make a payment for parking in the College Car Parks at Bromsgrove and Redditch. We are aware that these are sometimes being referred to as fines.

"Our Bromsgrove and Redditch car parks are managed on our behalf by a parking management company and operated using a pay by phone system. There is no payment by cash facility.

"The College will never contact anyone directly to request payment for using the car parks.

"Should you receive any communications claiming to be from the college, or are approached by anyone asking for a cash payment on behalf of the college, you should decline their request.

"You should email any information to parking@howcollege.ac.uk, if you do not have access to the internet, please contact Donna Gibson, Principal’s Office, Osprey House, Redditch, Telephone 01905 743482".
