PUBLIC health officials have confirmed that a positive Covid-19 case has been identified at a school in Redditch.
An individual from St Augustine’s Catholic High School is now self-isolating for two weeks in line with government guidance.
Dr Kathryn Cobain, director for Public Health for Worcestershire said: "One positive case of Covid-19 has been identified at St Augustine’s Catholic High School.
"This case was quickly identified and the individual is now self-isolating.
"The school has followed guidance from Public Health and appropriate measures were in place to protect the school community.
"One close contact has been identified and traced, they are now self-isolating for 14 days in line with guidance and will continue to educate students learning through remote access.”
On Twitter, Redditch MP Rachel Maclean said: "I've spoken to Principal O’Connor. I wish the person who tested positive a speedy recovery.
"Thanks to Mr O’Connor’s robust measures, no bubbles of students have been sent home.
"I pay tribute to teachers & staff for all they’re doing to keep schools open."
Previously in Redditch, a whole year group of Arrow Vale Academy year nine pupils - around 240 children - were told to self-isolate after a positive case was confirmed.
Today, The Advertiser reported that two cases of coronavirus had been confirmed at Heart of Worcestershire College.
It is not known whether any students have been asked to self-isolate as a result or which buildings the cases were confirmed in.
The college, which has campuses in Redditch, Bromsgrove and Worcester, remains open to students and staff.
