POLICE have issued a warning to residents of Romsley after dozens of bin bags were found cluttering the side of a road.

The Hagley and Rubery safer neighbourhood team have said "anyone caught dumping rubbish will be dealt with robustly" in response to mess found in and around Shut Mill Lane.

Officers also confirmed they will increase patrols in the area and will hold a meeting with the council over the issue.

Photographs show dumped bin bags left on the side of the road and over a barbed wire fence.

Amongst the rubbish is paint cans, chairs, boxes and other discarded pieces of junk.

In a tweet, the safer neighbourhood team said: "This is completely unacceptable.

"Local policing will be having a meeting with the council and also upping it's patrols in and around Shut Mill Lane, Romsley. "Anyone caught dumping rubbish will be dealt with robustly."

Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Karen May, also responded to the mess on Twitter.

“This is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated", she tweeted.

“Please if you spot people dumping get their registration plate and the council and police will follow up on the information.”
