A DRUG dealer who went on the run from justice two years ago has finally been captured in Kidderminster - and is now behind bars awaiting sentence.

Kaine Jones, 22, formerly of Druids Lane, Birmingham, had been due before the Gloucester Crown Court on November 8, 2018 but failed to turn up and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On May 5 this year, Jones’ partner in crime, Dieago Conway-Lynch, was jailed for two years and four months for his role in the pair's illicit drug enterprise.

The court was told then on that on November 6, 2017 Conway-Lynch was asleep on a sofa at an address in Cheltenham when police raided the property.

A search was carried out and, in a bag belonging to Conway-Lynch, 26 wraps of Class A drugs were discovered.

Analysis revealed one to be a wrap of heroin and the others were all crack cocaine. The DNA of both Conway-Lynch and Jones DNA was found on the packets.

At Gloucester Crown Court on Thursday (October 15), Jones appeared via video link from Kidderminster Police Station and pleaded guilty to being concerned with the supply of heroin on or before November 6, 2017.

However, he denied being concerned with the supply of 25 wraps of crack cocaine on the same date.

The court was told that his offence was in breach of a community order issued for a similar offence by Edinburgh Sheriff Court on July 26, 2017.

Jones was remanded in custody by Recorder Charles Langley until November 6 – almost two years to the day after he failed to appear.

Recorder Langley told Jones: “I am not allowing a bail application because you have been on the run for a substantial amount of time.”

At the next hearing, Jones will also be charged with failing to appear in court in November 2018.
