BLACK Country glam rockers and festive favourites Slade have cancelled their Christmas 2020 tour as the coronavirus crisis continues to hit the music industry hard.

The band, famed for their festive hit Merry Christmas Everybody, had been due to play at The Asylum in Birmingham on Friday December 18 as part of a nationwide Christmas tour.

But in a statement issued today the band said they would be postponing the tour until December 2021, adding: "When we announced the tour four months ago there was a positive outlook for Christmas 2020. "Devastatingly, this is not going to be the case.

"The health and safety of our fans, the band, crew, and venue staff is our upmost priority, so we hope you will understand this decision."

The band have already issued revised dates for 2021 and will now play at The Asylum, Birmingham, on Saturday December 18, 2021. They said tickets for 2020 would be automatically transferred and they said they looked forward to seeing fans in 2021.
