A CYCLIST in his 40s has died and another man has been seriously injured in a crash in Alvechurch today.

A woman in her 20s has been arrested and is helping police with their investigation into the crash on the A441 Redditch Road at around 8am this morning (Saturday November 14).

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the crash - involving two cyclists and a car - to get in touch.

The other cyclist - a man in his 20s - has been "seriously injured" and is in hospital.

The road was closed for hours and motorists were advised to avoid the area after the crash.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "At around 8am this morning (Saturday 14 November) we received reports of a serious collision on the A441 in Alvechurch involving a car and two bicycles.

"Two people, both cyclists, were seriously injured in the collision and sadly, one of the victims, a man in his 40s, died.

"The other victim, a man in his 20s continues to receive medical care at hospital.

"A woman in her 20s from Redditch has been arrested and is assisting officers with their investigation.

"The collision resulted in the closure of the A441 which then remained closed for several hours.
