BROMSGROVE residents who would be due a bin collection over the Christmas and New Year bank holidays are being advised to double check when to put their bins out.

There are planned changes to collections which fall on a Friday.

Residents whose usual collection day is a Friday are being asked to put their bins out on the following Monday during the festive season.

That means if you are due a collection on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, they will instead be made on Monday, December 28 and Monday, January 4.

All other collection days will be unaffected and should be put out as normal.

Cllr Margaret Sherrey, portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “As always we have had to make some changes to bin collections over the Christmas and New Year period, but we hope that this will not cause too much disruption to residents, particularly as it only affects Friday collections this year.

“After an unusual and uncertain year, I hope our waste crews enjoy some well-deserved time off to spend with their families."

Residents are reminded to put their bin out by 7am on their day of collection as on occasion it is necessary for the crew to change their route and arrive earlier or later than normal.

The garden waste service will take a two-week break (w/c 21 and 28 December) before restarting in the New Year (w/c 4 January).
