A CARE charity in Worcestershire is helping to support the coronavirus vaccination programme.

Crossroads Caring for Carers provides care and support to people living in their own homes.

Care manager Helen Simmons said: “Covid-19 has been the single greatest public health emergency in the history of the NHS. We understand the urgency of supporting people to be vaccinated against this cruel virus.

“We are arranging appointments, assisting people with their daily needs to fit in with their appointments and taking people to have their vaccine.”

One of the people Crossroads have supported is Ray Wilkes.

He said: “I am happy and excited to have had my first Covid jab. I am looking forward to breaking the chain and not being able to pass the virus onto anyone.

“Crossroads enabled me to be ready for my appointment by altering the time of my support call.”

The only time I have left the house in 2020 was early February to visit my wife’s grave and Christmas Day.

Crossroads enabled me to be ready for my appointment by altering the time of my support call.”
