BROMSGROVE District Council is closing its offices to the public in a bid to keep residents and staff as safe as possible following the Prime Minister’s announcement about the national lockdown.

From 5pm tomorrow (January 7), until further notice, Parkside will close its doors but customers can still access services remotely or get in touch with officers.

Council Leader Karen May said: “This is not a decision we have taken lightly but we have to acknowledge that the national situation with Covid 19 is grave and, in line with Government guidance, we don’t want to encourage people to leave their homes to access our services which can be done remotely.

“We know this isn’t ideal for everyone, especially if they can’t use the internet successfully but our customer services staff can still be contacted by telephone to help.

“Since March the majority of staff have been working from home and we have continued to deliver our services in circumstances which have seen officers go above and beyond and we will continue to do so.”

Services, including online payments and reporting a missed bin, are available at Bromsgrove.gov.uk and can be found by using the search button. The Council will also update social media channels with alternative ways to get in touch and customer services staff are available on 01527 881288.
