DRIVERS who broke the law and a teenager given a restraining order were among the cases heard at Worcester Magistrates Court on January 5.

Syed Arif Ahmad, aged 29, of Milhouse Road, South Yardley, was caught behind the wheel of a blue Volkswagen Golf in Evesham High Street on July 10 last year.

An evidential test revealed he had 7.9 microgrammes of cannabis per litre of blood.

Ahmad pleaded guilty when he appeared before Worcester Magistrates’ Court on January 5, 2021.

He was banned from driving for three years, fined £101 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge, and costs of £185 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Also at the same court on January 5, a 16-year-old was given a two-year restraining order after he assaulted another male in Evesham.

The incident took place on August 17 last year.

He pleaded guilty to assault causing the victim actual bodily harm when he appeared before Worcester Youth Court on January 6.

He was given the restraining order until January 5, 2023, and his parent was ordered to pay compensation of £200, a victim surcharge of £22, and costs of £50 to the CPS.

Also at the court, a 50-year-old man was fined for speeding on a restricted road towards Worcester city centre.

Simon Dobbins, of Sentinel Close, Worcester, was caught driving down Tolladine Road on February 20 last year at a speed exceeding 30mph.

He pleaded guilty to the charge at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on January 6, 2021.

Dobbins was fined £54, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £100 to the Crown Prosecution Service, and his driving record was endorsed with three points.
