A MAN from Malvern has been banned from driving for two years and fined more than £1,000 after being caught drink driving in Worcester on November 22 last year. Gareth Evans, 47, was stopped by police on Worcester Road. A test revealed he had 108 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg. He pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court on January 7 and was fined £1,115.

Evans, of Leigh Sinton Road, Malvern, was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £112 and costs of £135 to the CPS.

The ban will be reduced by 24 weeks if by May 22, 2022 if he completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

On the same day at the court, two men from Worcester were fined after being caught with cannabis.

Ryan Boon, 21, pleaded guilty on January 7 after he was caught with the Class B drug on September 26 in Worcester.

Boon, of Maple Avenue, Worcester, was fined £80, and must pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £185 to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Jack Ormsby, 23, of Avon Road, Worcester, was also caught with cannabis, on the same day.

He pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court on January 7, as was fined £184, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34, and to pay costs of £185 to the CPS. In both cases, the drugs were confiscated and will be destroyed.

Also appearing before the magistrates on January 7, was 34-year-old Toby Smith who was fined for wilfully obstructing a police officer and banned from driving for a year for driving without insurance.

Smith, of Langland Close, Malvern, pleaded guilty and was fined £40, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and ordered to pay costs of £135 to the CPS for obstructing the officer on July 14 last year.

Smith was fined £80 after pleading guilty to being the driver of a mechanically propelled vehicle and for failing to stop for a police officer on Ramsons Close in Malvern on the same day.

He also admitted driving the Fiat Punto without the required licence. Three days later he was caught driving the Fiat on Ramsons Close without insurance and was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for a year.
