WARNINGS of torrential rain and flooding are in place across Worcestershire for later this week as a band of wet weather travels south.

The Met Office anticipates “spells of heavy rain” across the county and warns that “flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely” in the yellow weather warning that will blanket the whole of England from midnight on Wednesday (January 20).

Bus and train services will “probably” be affected with “spray and flooding on roads” also set to make journey times longer.

“Interruption to power supplies and other services” is also deemed “likely”.

The warnings are currently listed as in place until 3am on Thursday, January 21.

Matters could worsen if warnings for all of Wales and areas as far south as Lichfield move farther down.

Those warnings are in place from midnight tomorrow (Tuesday, January 19) with home and businesses expected to be damaged by floods, fast-flowing or deep floodwater causing a “possible” danger to life”, delays or cancellations to train or bus services and road closures also possible.

It warns that “communities may be cut off by flooded roads” alongside potential power cuts and the loss of other services.
