POLICE raided a derelict house in Rednal and discovered 700 cannabis plants growing inside.
Officers swarmed the property in Leach Green Lane at 12.45pm on Saturday, March 6.
It was in response to a call from the property's owner, who found scaffolding had been put up outside and the doors and locks had been changed.
The house has been empty for several years and has fallen into a state of disrepair, but neighbours reported seeing lights on inside in recent weeks.
No one was inside the property when officers entered but 700 cannabis plants were found.
Police are now appealing for witnesses.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We have seized about 700 cannabis plants after being called to a derelict property in Leach Green Lane, Birmingham at 12.45pm on Saturday.
"Officers were alerted by the property's owner who found scaffolding had been put up outside and the doors and locks had been changed.
"No one was found inside the premises and the plants which have been removed will be destroyed following analysis.
