CATSHILL FC are looking forward to restarting their ‘mini kickers’ session after a long delay due to COVID.

The club, based at Catshill Middle School, have over 15 teams competing in various leagues.

Their ‘mini kickers’ session is aimed at four- to ten-year-olds, and is open to both girls and boys, with training resuming next Saturday (April 17.)

Club secretary, Russell Crowe, who also coaches the under 13’s team said: “The lockdown has really made me miss coaching, as most coaches do, I got roped in to it doing the job but I have realised how much I enjoy doing it. All the kids absolutely love playing football and its so great to see.

“The aim of the mini kickers session is to get the kids involved, then try and get them to join teams and play in the leagues. “

The session runs every Saturday 8:30 to 9:30am and cost £3 per session, with the first week free.

Catshill FC also have a successful girls only coaching session, ‘wildcats’, every Wednesday for ages five to eleven years old.

Russell added: “This club relies on volunteers and we are always on the look out for extra help. At the moment our wildcats session is run by dads but ideally we would love the mums to get involved which we are hoping will happen as much girls get into playing football.

“Normally we would do a sponsored run and hold a fate to raise funds for the club but we haven’t been able to do. Instead, we created Catshill FC face masks and sold them to the players and parents will all funds going to the club.”

The ‘mini kickers’ session is run by FA Level three qualified coach Jim Mcgettrick.
