The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, had died aged 99, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”

I happened to meet Prince Philip in May 1989 at The Cadet Inspection of Bishop's College School as I am a BCS alumnae. I remember his visit very fondly. His legacy lives on. RIP Prince Philip.
