THE Bromsgove community have paid tribute to Prince Phillip who has died aged 99 today.

Flags will be flown at half mast across the district and floral tributes can be left on the bandstand in Sanders Park as a mark of respect.

Brosmgrove School have their flag at half mast today and have tweeted: "The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Bromsgrove are with Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal family following the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Our flags are flying at half-mast as we join with people around the world in mourning his loss."

The chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Counicllor Rod Laight, has expressed his condolences:“On behalf of the council and residents of Bromsgrove District, I would like to share my heartfelt sympathies for the Royal Family at this sad time.

“We are shocked and upset by the loss of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, may he rest in peace.

“I urge those who wish to share the burden of this loss to look out for details of arrangements, which will be released shortly, so that we can all do this as a community.

“The passing of Prince Philip is a great loss to our country.”

Sajid Javid, MP for bromsgrove has also tweeted: "HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh devoted his life to serving the U.K. and Commonwealth. He made me so incredibly proud to be British. May he RIP. My thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and Royal Family."

The Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Holcroft said:"On behalf of the County and people of Worcestershire, I offer our heartfelt condolences to Your Majesty and to the wider Royal Family at this time of profound national grief.  We share a deep sense of loss with all in the United Kingdom and abroad as we remember with great pride and affection HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

"The Duke had been Your Majesty’s steadfast consort and a dedicated public servant for more than 70 years. In war and in peace, he set an unparalleled example of service not self, making an extraordinary contribution to the nation and inspiring so many of us in so many different fields. We are all diminished by his loss and we shall not see his like again; but his remarkable legacy has imbued the national consciousness."

The Chairman of Worcestershire County Council, Councillor Bob Brookes said:“It is with great sadness that I offer my condolences, on behalf of Worcestershire County Council, to Her Majesty the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family.

"As a mark of respect at this very sad time, flags are being flown at half mast at County Hall and other public buildings across the county.

"Due to current COVID-19 regulations, an online book of condolence will be opened for Worcestershire residents in due course.”
