POLICE enquiries continue following the death of a man in his 40s who suffered burns in a house fire in Cradley Heath at the weekend.
Emergency services were called after a fire at a property in Halesowen Road in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 18) - at around 2.20am.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor to the incident which was also attended by 15 firefighters from Oldbury, Sedgley and Brierley Hill - with the first crew arriving at the scene in just over three minutes.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "On arrival we discovered two patients, both men. One of whom was found in a critical condition.
"He received specialist trauma care at the scene before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham."
Police have since confirmed, however, that the man in his 40s later died of his injuries.
The second man was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital in Dudley.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Our enquiries into the circumstances are continuing."
