A FORMER University of Worcester student is due to stand trial for rape today.
Sam Ringer faces a charge of rape and a further count of penetrative sexual assault at a trial at Worcester Crown Court which is due to begin today.

The offences are said by the prosecution to have been committed against a city woman on January 16, 2018.
The trial of Ringer, aged 22, of Longfield Lane, Ilkeston, Derbyshire has yet to be called on. No jury has yet been sworn.

The trial is being heard by Judge Nicolas Cartwright. Andrew Jackson appears for the prosecution and Anna Midgley for the defence.
In other cases today Simon Edge is due in for a plea at 2pm while the sentence of Jamie Whittingham is due to take place at 2.30pm. Plea and trial preparation hearings are due to take place for Alice Pettitt, Joseph Preddy, Anthony Blewett, Kyle Sherwood and Dale Clarke.
Worcester Magistrates Court is today dominated by cases from north of the county including Redditch and Kidderminster.
