Stourport Hockey Club has received a £1,000 donation from The Arnold Clark Community Fund.
The club, based off the Kingsway has recently launched a 'back to hockey' programme so membership can resume throughout the Spring and Summer.
The much-needed donation will ensure their 450 members receive a ‘business as usual’ experience, despite limited income and fixed costs and overheads
Martin Tucker, Stourport Hockey chair said: “Many sports clubs, community groups and charities across the UK have been hit hard by financial constraints during these unprecedented times. We are therefore so grateful to the Arnold Clark Group for their generosity in awarding this donation to Stourport Hockey Club.”
During lockdowns over the last 12 months, the hockey club has continued to engage with players by providing online training and international sporting insight.
The Arnold Clark Community Fund was created in March 2021 to help charities and local community groups who need financial assistance due to the Covid19 pandemic.
Paul Humphries general manager at Arnold Clark Fiat Motor store said: “We are thrilled to support Stourport Hockey Club through the Arnold Clark Community Fund. The main aim of the fund is to support our local communities and after a particularly difficult year for the club, it is great to see that this money will go towards repairs and supporting the club’s teams and coaches.”
Stourport Hockey Club established over 125 years ago, and part of the Stourport Sports Club, offers hockey to all ages and abilities, from 8 to 80.
