WORK to improve lighting at New Road Car Park in Bromsgrove will be starting next week.

From June 9, Bromsgrove District Council’s contractors, Prysmian Cables and Systems Limited, will be onsite to replace the current lighting with new LED lighting.

The new LED lights should mean improved lighting levels as well as a reduction in the council’s carbon footprint and energy bills for the car park.

LED lights last much longer than traditional forms of lighting and so should mean less maintenance work is required.

LEDs are also much brighter which means improved safety for car park users, particularly in the winter, as well as improved visibility on CCTV

Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Karen May, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause to car park users or residents in the surrounding area and aim to complete the work as efficiently as possible.

"The end result will make a safer, brighter, and a more pleasant experience for everyone as well as reducing energy usage.

"Small changes like this help regenerate the area as well as improving the overall carbon footprint of our town.”

The work will be completed during the daytime and should take one week to complete.

During this time, half of the car park will be out of use at a time so that the work can be completed safely.
