A WORCESTER man has been arrested after being filmed exposing himself with no trousers or pants on in an alleyway by the canal at Diglis.

West Mercia Police confirmed a 46-year-old man from Worcester had been arrested on Monday (June 14) for “breaching a criminal behaviour order, possessing a controlled class B drug and exposure”.

The man has been remanded to court.

Footage from a witness, submitted to Worcester News, shows a man naked from the waist down and with his t-shirt pulled halfway up his torso.

He appeared to have explicit literature in his hand at the time.

The alleyway feeds off the path next to the canal and the video shows someone walking up the canal path totally oblivious to what he may be about to see.

Worryingly, the alleyway is in sight of the windows of residential properties on the other side of the canal where the witness, who asked to remain anonymous, lives.

The witness said: “I thought ‘what the devil is going on?’

“I was more concerned about whether a child had seen him, they would have been scarred for life, or if I had seen him walking back from a night out.”

However, it has not made the witness concerned about the area generally.

“One person wouldn’t make me worry about living around Diglis, it’s beautiful,” they added.

The maximum sentence for exposure is two years’ imprisonment.

According to law, the offence of exposure is committed where an offender “intentionally exposes his or her genitals and intends that someone will see them and be caused alarm or distress”.

It is gender neutral, covering exposure of male or female genitalia to a male or female witness.

The Sentencing Guidelines Council provides that when dealing with a repeat offender the starting point should be 12 weeks’ custody with a range of between four and 26 weeks.

It adds that “the presence of aggravating factors may suggest that a sentence above the range is appropriate and that the case should be committed to the Crown Court”.
