POLICE have confirmed that the four men banned from every hospital in England will only be able to enter to seek treatment - not to visit loved ones.

Previously we reported the four men had received the blanket ban after videoing in Worcestershire hospitals at the peak of the pandemic, claiming the effects of Covid-19 had been overstated.

The videos were filmed at the peak of the strain on the NHS and just days after the arrests, the number of UK daily deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test hit a record high of 1,820, on January 20.

Why are these four men banned from every hospital in England

Matthew Hopkins, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, has shared his ''outrage and disgust' at their behaviour.

He said:“I am sure anyone who saw or heard about these videos would share my sense of disgust and outrage that anyone would seek to peddle such toxic fake news while NHS staff across the country are facing the devastating impact of the pandemic every day.

“Their actions were reckless and their agenda of denying the impact of Covid is both ignorant and potentially life threatening. We have a very difficult job to do and this kind of stupidity risks damaging staff morale at the worst possible time.”

Inspector Lee Page, from West Mercia Police, said: “The men were not wearing face coverings or socially distancing and some of them were challenging hospital staff, accusing them of spreading fake news and claiming there was no national emergency and no pandemic.

“The behaviour of these people disrupted the running of the hospitals, tied up valuable resources and caused alarm and distress to patients and staff, some of whom made official complaints to police.

“As a result of their activities, West Mercia Police issued written warnings to all four people under Part 4 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.

“These warnings directed them not to enter any hospital in England unless for medical reasons."
