A PLANNING application for outline permission to build ten homes in Alvechurch has been turned down by planners who said 'its an inappropriate development on greenbelt land'.

It was recommended that Bromsgrove District Council planning committee refused the planning application for development of land off Withybed Lane due to its positioning on greenbelt land.

Planning Officer, Steve Edden said there were no special circumstances to outweigh the risk to the greenbelt.

However, applicant Chris Brian said the development would "make a headway in Bromsgrove's districts;'s housing deficit and reduce pressure to pass other planning applications on greenbelt land."

Bromsgrove Advertiser: The proposed site was situated on greenbelt land. The proposed site was situated on greenbelt land.

The planning application was also refused due to the price of the housing, with no affordable homes proposed.

Withybed Lane is a tight country lane and was decided that no matter where the point of access was situated will be danger to highways safety.

Before the proposal went to the committee it generated nearly 80 objections from Alvechurch residents.

Frances Connolly of nearby Bear Hill Drive said: "The proposed development is on green belt land.

"The only access is on to a narrow road.

"The approach from the left is via a narrow hump backed bridge with very restricted view of the road ahead and oncoming traffic.

" The approach from the right is via a sharp bend under a railway bridge , again with very restricted view of the road ahead and oncoming traffic.

"Exiting from the access road onto this narrow road the driver would have a very restricted view of any traffic coming either way. It would be an extremely dangerous junction and in my view the planning application should be refused."
