A FORMER care home rated 'inadequate' in Marlbrook is up for sale.

The Oaks Care Home on Birmingham Road closed down in August 2019 after being labelled 'inadequate' for the second time in two years.

The home is now on the market for £549,950 after being vacant since its closure.

There were 16 residents registered to the home, with 13 bedrooms over two floors.

Agent, Redwoods Dowling Kerr said: "This is a unique opportunity to acquire a substantial freehold property located in a sought after residential area, and viewing is therefore highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

"Due to its size and location, the property may also suit a variety of commercial and residential uses subject to the relevant planning approval."

The Oaks was first rated 'inadequate' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in October 2017 but a follow-up visit in May 2018 found it had improved enough to be taken out of special measures.

However, concerns from members of the public over staffing levels at the home - prompted another CQC inspection in July 2018.

That visit resulted in the home being assessed as inadequate in all five inspection areas - safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership.

Residents were then moved to new homes and the owner - listed on the CQC website as a Mr S Siventhiran announced that the home was to close.
