A MAN has been hit with a fine after threatening to set his dog upon a speed enforcement officer in Bromsgrove.

The man threatened the officer at the roadside in Stoke Prior while the officer was carrying out speed enforcement activity in Shaw Lane in April.

He admitted to threatening to set his dog upon the officer during a hearing at Worcester Magistrate’s Court last month when he pleaded guilty to using threatening language to cause harassment, alarm or distress to the officer.

He was ordered to pay the £138 fine as well as costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.

Superintendent Gareth Morgan, West Mercia Police said: “We will not tolerate abusive or threatening language or behaviour towards our enforcement officers. Speed enforcement continues to be a priority for West Mercia Police and enforcement officers play a vital role in improving the safety of the roads by enforcing the limit and ultimately trying to reduce collisions and casualties.

“There are too many families that unfortunately know far too well the devastating consequences that speeding and collisions can lead to, so any behaviour that tries to harass or cause alarm to officers while carrying out their role will be dealt with robustly.”
