BROMSGROVE RFC coach Ross Baxter has set his side a target of six wins to secure Midlands Division Two West survival.

Baxter got the response he needed from his players on Saturday when they beat Cheltenham North 27-0, their fourth win of the season.

The Boars now have a weekend off to prepare for a crunch clash at fellow strugglers Whitchurch on January 19.

Whitchurch are one place above Bromsgrove, and defeat for the Finstall Park outfit would leave them four points adrift of safety.

And Baxter has urged his side to get points on the board before it is too late.

"The win was just what we needed," he said.

"We managed to get the players focused, dumb down the game a bit and play more simple rugby.

"The lads were committed in the tackle, and the discipline was great because it was quite a feisty game.

"Unlike other parts of the season, every time we got a chance we scored.

"We need to win six games between now and the end of the season.

"We want to get those points on the board early and keep it ticking over."

Baxter highlighted the next five games as pivotal in his side's survival scrap.

"We have a week off now and we are going to rest the players as it was quite a physical game on Saturday," he added.

"We really need to get them focused because the next five games are going to be really important."
