BARNT Green brought down the curtain on this season's campaign in winning style after beating Ombersley by four wickets to lift the Birmingham League's Graham Williamson Trophy the third year running.

The Green chased down an Ombersley target of 173 all out to maintain their stranglehold on the competition.

Boosted by the presence of England and Somerset white ball international Tom Banton together with Worcestershire bound pinch hitter Ed Pollock, the Green were to prove good value for their victory.

Former county player George Panayi held Ombersley's innings together with a timely 63 and found support from Liam Gwynne who added 36.

But Ombersley were undone by Banton's unlikely off-spin, helping himself to figures of four for 28 from his seven over spell.

Banton was backed up by Adam Hines who took three for 45 while skipper Darrel Williams removed dangermen Nick Hammond and former Worcester, Somerset and Hampshire player Gareth Andrew.

The Green made a compelling start to their reply as Pollock plundered three six-hits in the opening over.

But Pollock perished for 44 off 21 balls when bowled by Ombersley's Tom Brown.

At that stage, the Green were 61 for two but a slightly more patient 69 not out from Dom Harding saw his side home.

Harding joined forces with Ben Chapman-Lilley to put on 83 for the fourth wicket before the pair were parted just eight runs short of victory.

The Green were later presented with the trophy by Birmingham League President Bill Smith.
