Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid writes his regular column for readers of the Bromsgrove Advertiser.

The Prime Minister recently appointed his new cabinet, and I am delighted to continue my work as the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. I'm absolutely determined to get our country through the pandemic, tackle the backlog, and deliver lasting reforms to health and social care.

Our focus as a government is to get on with the job, including managing Covid, continuing our historic vaccine rollout, levelling up and getting more people into work - and redoubling our efforts to deliver on the people’s priorities.

In Bromsgrove, I recently met with the chair of Alvechurch Parish Council and the local District Councillor, Aled Luckman. Working together at a local level is crucial to delivering for residents and I look forward to further meetings in future.

I was also delighted to visit the new business, Melt, on Bromsgrove High Street. It was fantastic to see the investments they have made – a real sign of confidence in local people and our economy. I wish them the very best of success in future.

Finally, I would just like to put on record my immense thanks to the former chief constable of West Mercia Police, Anthony Bangham – who has retired after thirty years in the force. I know I speak on behalf of all Bromsgrove residents, when I say thank you for your incredible service and sacrifice.
