A BROMSGROVE care company is celebrating it's "super star" carers that go the extra mile to help their clients.

The team at Home Instead Redditch and Bromsgrove marked the national ‘Celebrating Homecare’ initiative with an event on September 22 to to recognise the vital work of carers.

The scheme was launched by the United Kingdom Healthcare Association with The Care Workers’ Charity this year, following the outpouring of gratitude to carers during the pandemic.

The theme for this year’s inaugural event was ‘made with care’, to celebrate the relationships that exist between the people who give and receive care, and highlight the many activities they enjoy together.

Caregivers from Home Instead got involved by getting crafty together with their clients- with one carer going the extra mile.

Redditch local, Florrie and her care giver Helen embodied the ‘made with care’ theme as the pair finished their cardigan knitting project that they had been working on since February, just in time for celebration day on September 22.

Annie Dixon-Dunn, owner of Home Instead, said: "It is so important that we recognise the amazing work that our care workers do with this day. However, as the length of Helen and Florrie’s knitting project shows, our caregivers go above and beyond every day. They are super stars.”

Jane Townson, CEO of the Homecare Association added: “Homecare workers have been a lifeline for many people throughout the past 18 months, showing real selflessness and resilience in providing invaluable support to people in their own homes in incredibly challenging times.

“But the work they do is always important - not just throughout the pandemic. Homecare services benefit all of us: people who receive and give services, their families, health services and our wider communities.

“Their roles deserve to be celebrated now, and increasingly into the future.”

Home Instead employs over 80 care workers who support their clients in their own homes, providing companionship, home help, personal care and dementia care to residents in Redditch, Bromsgrove and the surrounding areas.
