A BROMSGROVE church is set to host a special service for people who have experienced the loss of a baby.

St John's Church will open from 6pm to 7pm this Sunday (October 10) for people to reflect, remember and name their child in peaceful surroundings.

Reverend Ray Khan said: “In the past this simple service has brought comfort to many couples and families. I can remember a mother who was able for the first time to grieve and name the baby she lost over 20 years ago.

"We need times when together we remember our loss and that we travel with others on that journey. I hope that this space can provide that for parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters.”

The service will include music and a chance for people to light a candle and name their child on a butterfly tree.

The church will be open for an hour and people are free to come and go as they wish.
