A BONFIRE in Bromsgrove which was set alight last week has been rebuilt thanks to a huge community effort.

Bromsgrove Rugby Club’s renowned bonfire night event was thrown into trouble when organsiers found the bonfire alight weeks before the event.

It is believed a group broke into the rugby club at around midnight on October 7 and ignited the fire.

However, thanks to a social media appeal, the bonfire has been rebuilt just six days after the incident.

Bromsgrove Rugby Club thanked the community on Twitter: “The bonfire is now rebuilt.

“What an amazing response from the local community.

“We would like to thank you all for your support and donations of wood. We have now completely rebuilt the bonfire so won’t be able to take any more donations.

“See you on the 5th of November!"
