LOVE was in the air at a Bromsgrove care home when two residents celebrated a special milestone in their marriage.

Bill, aged 90, and Maureen, aged 89, toasted their 69th wedding anniversary at Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, where they both live.

Bill and Maureen met in London in the 1940s through mutual friends.

They lost touch for two years when Bill was called for National Service in the RAF, but reconnected when he came back and took her out dancing.

They fell in love then and married in September 1952.

Chandler Court’s chef prepared a surprise romantic meal for two in the home’s garden, which was specially decorated for the occasion.

Vongai Mushinga, home manager said: “We were honoured to be a part of such a special moment for Bill and Maureen. They are truly inseparable, and we can all learn a thing or two from their long-lasting marriage.”
