A COUPLE from Finstall are once again switching on their extravagant Christmas light display to raise money for Primrose Hospice.

Wendy and Malcolm Molloy are set to decorate their Alcester Road home with extravagant lights from December 1.

Last year the pair raised £5,500 for charity and want to try and raise as much as they can this year.

Malcolm said: ““We have been doing this for twenty years and we change the display every year to keep things different - each display also has a bit of a story to it.

“We moved to Alcester Road in 1990 and I’m a big kid at heart so decided to put lots of lights up. Then one person said why don’t we do it for charity, so we thought why not?

“It usually takes between one month and six weeks to prepare the display depending on weather conditions.”

Wendy aged 59 and Malcolm, 63 have also appeared on Britain’s Craziest Lights on Channel 5 several times.

The couple are visited by around 50 to 200 people each night when the lights are switched on from 4.30pm to midnight.

Malcolm added: “We have always included Primrose Hospice as one of our charities, but we have raised money for other causes and charities too."

David Burrell, Chief Executive Officer from Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre said: “From everyone at Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre we would like to say a huge thank you to the organisers of this wonderful event as we know you work so hard every year to create a beautiful Christmas Display for the community to enjoy.
