A HOSPITAL charity has launched its Christmas appeal following one of the toughest years ever experienced by the NHS.

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Charity supports NHS patients, their families and carers at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Northfield.

The Christmas Appeal raises money to support wellbeing initiatives for both patients and staff over the festive season, including giving gifts to patients staying in hospital over the holidays and those being visited by the hospital’s community outreach team between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

It also provides gifts to staff to recognise their dedicated work throughout the year.

Additional money raised will go towards festive celebrations throughout the hospital as well as introducing a new patient entertainment system across inpatient areas in the hospital, planned for 2022.

Ali Gray, charity manager, said: “The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Charity relies on the generosity of local businesses and community fundraisers to assist with our fundraising efforts. Donations help us support ROH to provide a high-level of care and support for our patients, visitors, medical students and staff.

“Christmas can be a difficult time of year to be in hospital and during the Christmas season, dedicated staff at the hospital will continue to work hard to spread love, cheer and provide outstanding services to those who visit for life-changing treatment. With the kindness of our fundraisers, we can help make their Christmas special.”

To get involved with the raffle, which will be drawn on December 8, simply text CHRISTMAS to 70215 and follow the instructions to enter.

Prizes up for grabs include afternoon tea at The Ritz and a spa day for two at Malvern Spa.

They charity will also host a Christmas Market outside the hospital's Outpatients Department between 10am and 3pm on December 7, featuring performances from the ROH Staff Choir.
