STREET theatre and music will come to Rubery when the village's Christmas lights switch-on returns.

The event returns to New Road on Saturday November 27 after last year's festivities were cancelled due to the pandemic.

Visitors can enjoy local singers and street performances from 1pm until 5pm, before the popular Primrose Hospice Tree of Lights switch-on and blessing by Reverend Claire Turner and Reverend Hamilton, takes place at 4pm.

This will be followed by the countdown and main lights switch on at 4.30pm.

Leisure Portfolio Holder, Cllr Phil Thomas, said: “We are so pleased that we could bring back a more covid secure version of the Rubery Switch On this year to help residents welcome the festive season safely. It will be a lovely, family-friendly event for residents of all ages to enjoy.”

The car park in front of the Co-Op will be closed for the day from 6am.
