A BARNT Green swimming teacher has won a top accolade for inspiring and teaching youngsters vital water skills.

Hollie Dixon, who teaches classes with Puddle Ducks Worcestershire, has been named 'Star Teacher' by the school following glowing reviews from parents and children.

Hollie joined the school in 2015 as a chef, but decided to change career and become a swimming instructor to follow her passion for the water and teaching youngsters.

She teaches mothers and babies in her aqua natal classes, baby and pre-school classes, and a swim academy for children aged four and over.

One parent's review said: “Hollie has a very warm manner and is very patient with the babies if they are having a difficult day.

"We love Hollie and have found that she has made our experience of swimming from an early age fun and safe."

Paying tribute to Hollie, Suzanne Horton, owner of Puddle Ducks Worcestershire, said: “Hollie is a fantastic teacher who could not be more deserving of this award. She brings so much to the role, and really cares about each and every child she teaches- helping to create a real love for the water.

“Not only does she help children and parents to develop their skills in the pool, but she makes lessons fun- bringing enthusiasm to lessons. In this way she not only helps children learn how to swim, but she also creates memorable experiences that will stay with Puddle Ducks throughout the rest of their lives.

“Congratulations to Hollie- you really are a star."
