A GIRL from Rubery dreaming of being on the West End, has got her biggest break so far - starring in a pantomime, performing in front of hundreds each night.

Eliza May Plant has always wanted to become a musical star and has landed a role in Cinderella the pantomime at The Core Theatre in Solihull.

The ten year old performs as part of a 24 strong children ensemble in the production, which is running until January 3.

Eliza's mum, Michelle Plant said she is so proud of her.

"She has wanted to be involved in theatre since she was very young but since the age of six she has attended the School of Theatre Excellence in Birmingham," said Michelle.

"They have been really supportive of her and encouraged her to go for her dreams.

"This is Eliza's first panto, but she has performed in theatre productions such as Annie the week before lockdown and Christmas Carol at The Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham.

"However, this is her biggest break yet.

"On average the cast are performing around three times a week so it is quite full on.

"She is getting bigger and bigger parts as she gets older - it is just so lovely to see her enjoying herself so much."

Eliza, pupil at St James' Catholic Primary School, was one of 200 children who applied for a part in the children's ensemble.

Michelle added: "She attended an audition where she sang and danced and she got picked – she was so happy

"She wants to be west end, specifically in Wicked, you need to aim high!

"I went to the first production and will hopefully see her a couple more times - she came off the stage absolutely buzzing!

"It makes me so proud to watch her and see her confidence grow."
