A TEAM of healthcare workers from Bromsgrove have been recognised for their efforts during the Covid pandemic.

The theatre and ward team from Burcot Hall Hospital scooped a top accolade at the Business Brilliance Awards for their work during the first wave of the Covid outbreak.

The group, which is made up of theatre porters, healthcare assistants, department practitioners and registered nurses received the Innovative Team of the Year award at the prestigious ceremony.

Burcot Hall Hospital on Stoney Lane, which is owned and managed by Transform Hospital Group, specifically provides cosmetic and weight loss surgery.

In March 2020 the hospital group overhauled its services to provide NHS care.

The theatre and ward team provided treatment to over 2,500 NHS patients whose appointments would otherwise have been delayed indefinitely, transforming the hospital in just seven days to be able to provide NHS care.

They took part in training on new ways of working and using new equipment and adapted to new clinical pathways to keep themselves and patients safe from Covid.

Tony Veverka, CEO of Transform Hospital Group, said the team stepped up in a time of uncertainty.

Mr Veverka said: “I’m incredibly proud of the team and the way in which they adapted so well at a time of such uncertainty to help patients who were in need.

“These colleagues are at the very front line of what we do and it’s thanks to their incredible efforts that so many patients were treated at this time.

"They truly stepped up to play a crucial role in helping the NHS, so it’s fantastic they have been recognised in this way

The Business Brilliance Awards, which was held in London, aims to celebrate excellence among practitioners and consultants from all over the UK in a range of fields.
