DODDERHILL may be scrapped as a council ward under new proposals for boundary changes in Wychavon District Council.

A public consultation has been launched by The Local Boundary Commission to review ward boundaries within Wychavon.

Under the proposed plans, Dodderhill ward could become Hartlebury and Dodderhill which would see it join with the current Hartlebury ward and part of Lovett and North Claines ward.

The Commission say this is to "avoid splitting the village of Cutnall Green" between wards.

Launching the consultation Professor Colin Mellors, chair of the commission, said: “We want people in Wychavon to help us.

“We have drawn up proposals for new wards in Wychavon. We want to make sure these new electoral arrangements reflect communities. We also want them to be easy to understand and convenient for local people.

“Residents and local organisations can help us do that. We would like them to let us know whether they agree with our proposals before we take final decisions."

The Commission has published proposals to reduce the number of wards in Wychavon by six and the number of councillors by two.

The independent body say they are reviewing the district “to make sure councillors will represent about the same number of electors, and that ward arrangements will help the council work effectively.”

A 10-week consultation period on the proposals will run until March 21 and final recommendations are set to be published on July 5.

The Boundary Commission will then lay a draft order in Parliament and subject to scrutiny the new arrangements are scheduled to come into effect in the May 2023 local elections.

On the Commission website, there is a dedicated section where people can see the detail of the proposals and comment on the names of wards and their boundaries.
