A brave six-year-old girl and a waitress are chopping off their hair to donate to charity as part of a fundraising event at a Worcestershire pub.

The Crown at Wychbold will be hosting an array of family activities on Friday, January 28 to raise money for the Little Princess trust.

In the midst of the family fun, Sophia Kelly, 6, and Megan Fogarty, 27, will be donating around 50cm of hair to the charity to be made into wigs for children suffering from cancer.

Cheryl Burnell, a chef at the Crown, said: "For the fundraiser, we have asked around local events people and seeing if any of them could offer their services.

"From 4pm, Little Kickers family football team will be bringing their mascot along. The kids will be competing against it to raise money.

"The doorstep princesses will be coming along to raise money and Pete Harrington, a local singer, will be here in the evening to entertain everyone.

"Around 6pm, one of the waitresses who works here will be having her hair cut off, and so will my daughter's best friend Sophia.

"The hairdressers 'More Good hair Days' will be cutting the hair for them."

The Little Princess trust is a charity that provides wigs made of real hair, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer or other illnesses.

"We have chosen the Little Princess Trust because you just can't help but fall in love with what they do," said Cheryl. "Especially nowadays, appearance means a lot to kids.

"It's even worse for kids losing their hair with chemotherapy, and wigs are really expensive.

"They range from £500 - £5,000, so for a child, especially if parents have had time off work to care for them, that's just not possible."
