A NEW cake shop has opened in Rubery, offering sweet treats such as cheesecakes, tortes and desserts.

Cake Solution opened in the town at the end of last year but is officially launching this weekend.

To celebrate on Saturday, January 29 and Sunday, January 30 the shop on New Road is giving away free cakes slices and cake pops to customers.

There are eight Cake Solution stores across the Midlands which also offer savoury items such as sandwiches, light bites, and soups.

Dillan Shikotra, who co-owns the business with Neil Blakeman, brought Cake Solution in July 2020 from a Chinese private equity firm.

Mr Shikotra said they chose Rubery as the location for a new store as it’s a “vibrant little town”.

“New Road is home to lots of independent shop and it’s got good parking too,” said Mr Shikotra.

“We felt the community was missing a cake shop and also an opportunity for people to meet for a coffee and a slice of cake."

Customers can buy cakes without pre-ordering which Mr Shikotra says makes their offering "stand out from the crowd."

"Being a privately held business we have the benefit of launching new products and making quick business decisions to allow us to respond to consumer needs and demands," added Mr Shikotra.

“Not only do we provide full cakes, we offer half and quarters for those looking for a delicious dessert.

“In addition, we make custom cakes for parties as well as wedding cakes.”

Recently the company has launched a vegan cookies and cream cheesecake and chocolate orange party cake to add to their growing offering of over 40 handmade cakes.

The pair are looking to open more stores in the area, specifically in and around Birmingham.

The business was formerly known as The Cheesecake Shop but changed name to illustrate the business sells more than cheesecakes.
