POP star Becky Hill is determined to bag Brits at this year's awards show and wants people to get behind her.

She chatted with us about her Brit nominations, her 2022 releases, and her love of her Bewdley, her home town.

Becky now lives in a flat in London with her fiancé Charlie Gardner and her dog. The couple got engaged on a romantic break in the Maldives earlier this month.

The 27-year-old, who attended St Anne’s C of E Primary School, visits Bewdley and Worcester as much as she can to see family and friends.

She said: "Nothing feels as good as coming back to Bewdley. My best mates from school are there.

“If the music industry was in Birmingham I would have still been at home."

Some of her fondest memories of the town include the Christmas lights switch-on, and the carnival.

She says she previously worked as a barmaid at the Cock and Magpie pub and regularly sang at open mic nights.

Now, Becky is calling on her home town and those from the region to help her Brit awards campaign by voting for her. She's been nominated for 'Best Dance Act', a new category in the awards, and 'Song of the Year', for Remember, her collaboration with David Guetta.

“To me it’s a huge thing to see that people’s careers and years of work get acknowledged by accolades such as the Brits", she said.

“Your award in your field of work is really really important.

“It’s really nice for dance music to get recognition. It’s mad to me that it hasn’t been a category before because of how prevalent dance music has always been.

“It’s a huge honour. I feel like I’ve really worked as hard as I can to make something of myself."

She added: “I love my home town. It’s the prettiest place I’ve ever been to and I feel so grateful I’m from there. I miss it every day.

“Any local support with the Brits would be really appreciated. It would mean the world to me to win a Brit Award and make Bewdley proud.”

Becky has also announced she is releasing a new single on the February 11 with dance DJ Wilkinson.

They originally joined forces nearly a decade ago on Wilkinson's classic tune 'Afterglow', with Becky's uncredited vocals.

She says her next solo single will be released on February 25 and will soon fly out to South Africa to shoot the music video.

Becky is also looking forward to performing at music festivals this year following the pandemic.

"I've got lots of festivals coming up this year. It will be nice to get back out there", she said.

Bromsgrove Advertiser:

Recently she was announced as one of the big names performing at the nearby Camp Bestival event at Weston Park, Shropshire in August.
