A make-up artist entered a beauty competition 'on a whim' and is now in the running to land a massive TV deal and win $100,000.

Charlotte Pingriff, who lives near Worcester city centre, is a professional make-up artist who can create make-up looks that range from gruesome to beautiful.

Ms Pingriff's love for beauty led her to start her own freelance make-up business called Pretty Scary, based in Belbroughton.

Over the years, she has often used social media to share her tips and tricks and build up a strong following.

Ms Pingriff has put her makeup skills to the test by entering InfluenceMe TV, which is a competition scouting the world for its next digital star.

The make-up star was keen to enter the competition because of its affiliation with a non-profit organisation called JED Foundation.

Ms Pingriff said: "They are working with the JED Foundation, a non-profit in America raising awareness, and providing support for teens and young adults with mental health struggles."

To enter the competition Ms Pingriff created designs that personify depression and anxiety.

"I created a series of looks that are a visual representation of how depression and anxiety feel or have felt for me," she added.

The JED Foundation welcomes creators from an array of niches including make-up, fitness and travel.

And the money raised will be put towards suicide prevention campaigns among young people.

"The final round will be judged by celeb judges, including singer Pia Mia, and the winners will be part of a new reality TV show.

"The winner will receive $100,000 and a TV deal so it’s massive and could really change mine and my family’s life.

"I honestly applied on a whim, and didn't.t expect to get accepted.

"And now, to my shock, I’m through to round two.

"Promoting The JED Foundation is the real cherry on the cake for me as I, along with many loved ones, have struggled with anxiety and depression.

"I have a little girl and I want her to be aware there is support and help out there should she ever suffer in the future."
