THE march towards Midlands Division Two West safety is gathering pace for Bromsgrove, as they brushed past title-chasing Walsall to seal their third league win in a row.

Nigel Burrows and captain Richard Arnold scored for the Boars in the 15-10 win, which lifted them out of the bottom three.

The Finstall Park side are now halfway to reaching the six-win target set by head coach Ross Baxter at the start of 2008.

Baxter believes his players are reaping the rewards of some intense training sessions.

He said: "It is an element of doing the basics well.

"Our first phase is very good, our defence is very good and we are very good in the contact areas.

"The lads are training very hard in the week, which perhaps they weren't doing earlier in the season.

"It was always going to be a tough game but we fancy ourselves against anyone at home.

"Our basics were much better than theirs."

Bromsgrove are without a game this weekend and despite his side finally hitting top form, Baxter admitted they will be grateful for a break.

"It is a case of getting the balance right," he added.

"With the impetus we have got we don't want to be picking up any injuries."

Droitwich geared up for the next installment of their EDF Senior Vase adventure with a 12-8 win over Kidderminster in Midlands Division Three West (South).

Dan Protherough's men kept up the pressure on league leaders Sutton Coldfield, but they switch their attentions to the Vase this Saturday, when they host Devon side Cullompton.
