A BEAUTY spot near Bromsgrove has warned visitors not to light any bonfires after one was discovered earlier this week.

Firefighters were called to the Lickey Hills Country Park on Monday, May 9 after a fire was left unattended.

The blaze has destroyed a 100-year-old tree and damaged habitat prompting the park to warn visitors.

A post on its Facebook page states: “Please no fires anywhere on the Lickey Hills. Thankfully this was a small fire spotted in time, but still took all of this time and resources to put out.”

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire Service said: “A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Bromsgrove Fire Station was called at 09:21 on 9 May to fire in the open on the Lickey Hills.

“The crew discovered an unattended fire, approximately 5m by 5m, and this was extinguished using two backpacks, a bowser and a hose reel jet.”
