A COMMUNITY group in Bromsgrove has launched an art competition to support their new website.

On Saturday, June 18 a Showcase Day was held at St John’s Church, opening the doors of the church and tower to visitors.

The day also launched the Friends of St John’s art competition which is looking for submissions to be shown on their website while it’s under development.

A spokesperson for the Friends of St John’s Group said: "We are keen for people to connect with the building and showcase their artistic skills in any format - it could be a painting, photograph, a poem, a video, a model.

“The artwork will all be displayed on the new website which is hoped to further connect people to the building, and to help in the latest fundraising project."

Some entries were submitted at the Showcase Day which included a painting of St John's in the snow by artist Clare Nisbet and a stitched wall hanging created by the team at The Creative Street Studio on Worcester Road.

The art competition, website and Showcase Day have been made possible thanks to funding from the Recovery Through Creativity Grant supported by Bromsgrove District Council and the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership.

Competition entries can be submitted via email at friends.stjohns.church@gmail.com before the closing date of Thursday, June 30.
