A NEW advice session has launched in Bromsgrove, providing a useful service for people up to the age of 25.

‘The Application Station’ is being run by The Basement Project, to provide free career or education advice and guidance for local young people.

Held at the charity’s Hanover Street offices, the drop-in service will help with aspects of career planning, including support with job applications, CVs and cover letters, help with access to work experience, apprenticeships and training courses and help with completing college and university applications.

Volunteer Anna Duffy, who is co-ordinating the service, will be on hand every Tuesday, from 12 pm till 4 pm. Pre-booking an appointment is essential to guarantee a one-to-one session.

Jerry Robinson, CEO at The Basement Project, said: “We are always exploring new ways in which we can provide support locally.

"Whilst some young people know what career they want to pursue, many don’t.

"The Application Station has been set up to help them understand the options available and to help them make the most of their skills as they work towards financial independence as young adults.”

He added: “Collectively our support staff have over 100 years’ experience of working with young people.

"They are well placed to offer the advice and practical help needed to help people overcome the challenges they are experiencing.”
